AM-2201

The research chemical AM-2201 is a putative agonist for cannabinoid receptor. It was discovered by Alexandros Makriyannis and hence, AM is added to the name. This drug has been recreationally used and abused in various countries including those in US and UK. The drug has now been banned under Synthetic Drug Abuse Prevention Act of 2012 and it is completely illegal in US and New Zealand. The drug is still legal in many other countries.

Even when recreationally used, the AM-2201 can lead to vomiting and panic attacks. Higher dosage can lead to convulsions similar to epileptic seizures. The chemical name for the AM-2201 is 1-(5-fluoropentyl)-3-(1-naphthoyl)indole and its IUPAC name is 1-[(5-fluoropentyl)-1H-indol-3-yl]-(naphthalen-1-yl)methanone. The chemical formula for this research chemical is C24H22FNO with 359.435 g/mol being its molecular mass.
